Amy Scott-Samuel + Dominoes

Amy Scott Samuel

Amy’s songs are simple and sincere; tender, melodic, and visceral. She paints in vivid colours of a life lived, of lives imagined and those dreamt of, marked always by her distinctive voice infused with hints of folk, country, blues, and soul. Amy is working closely with legendary singersongwriter Bill Ryder-Jones (Domino Records) on the production of her forthcoming debut album, Go Gently. Amy has toured the US, Spain, and UK with Liverpool-based alt. folk band She’s In The Trees (Lucinda Records) and is now venturing into new creative territory with her solo work. The first single from the album is set for release later this year.

Dominoes first began as a way for Liverpudlian based musician domino to release his home recordings, which have been hiding in various forms on a myriad of platforms since 2005. His music incorporates field recordings, outsider music, acid folk, tea and the arts and was conceived on home camps and ethereal ambles through the US, across Europe, and back to the bit where the sea meets the shore.

Birkett & Fisk play Venuti & Lang Emma Fisk – Violin       James Birkett – Guitar

The names of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli are familiar to many as pioneers of all-string jazz. Less universally known are the names Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang, the Italian-American duo who played hot violin and guitar jazz in the 1920s and 30s until their partnership was cut short by Lang’s untimely death in 1933. Joe Venuti has been referred to as ‘the father of jazz violin', while his musical partner Eddie Lang is widely regarded as the first jazz guitar virtuoso.

Bringing together their shared knowledge and love of early jazz styles, Emma Fisk and James Birkett present an entertaining, virtuosic and informative programme of music inspired by the first great jazz violin and guitar partnership. The programme includes quirkily named compositions by Venuti & Lang such as Cheese & Crackers, Kickin’ The Cat and Black and Blue Bottom; jazz standards of the 20s and 30s; specially composed originals that explore the duo's sound-world, all set in context with snippets of biographical and musical information.

Martin Stephenson and Some Daintees

Martin Stephenson

and some Daintees

All music aficionados know the name Martin Stephenson – and they also know his live performances are a must-see, exuberant tour-de-force.

The ‘restless troubadour’ from Durham formed The Daintees in his teens with the deliberate intention of showcasing a broad range of musical styles.

And from their 1982 debut single Roll On Summertime, via the breakthrough album Boat to Bolivia and on through three decades and more than 40 albums, the band – and Stephenson – have done just that.

Inspired by early Cure and the Brighton scene, Martin began his career as a busker aged 15 and then spent three years plying his trade as the guitar player in various bands in the north-east of England . But Martin wanted more, he wanted to tell stories of his own and he was quickly developing ways of doing just that.

He developed his song-writing technique by firstly learning a few licks from a Spanish guitar book and repeated the process with Jazz, Blues, Country, Skiffle, Reggae etc. Eventually, this glorious collision of styles would become the trademark which Martin has carried through his career of almost 40 years.

Martin formed his band The Daintees, that became a busking sensation and were signed by Kitchenware at around the same time as Prefab Sprout and Hurrah! The band and indeed Martin have always been known for their incredible range of styles, each album covering a multitude of genres, tempos and moods.

In the early days of The Daintees, the band toured with the likes of Aztec Camera and The Bluebells. In 1985 they became Roy Buchannan’s backing band on a month long tour of Europe and the following year joined John Martyn on his ‘Piece by Piece ‘tour. As a solo artist  Martin also toured around this time with such artists as Hothouse Flowers and Janice Ian.

Pictish Trail + Faith Eliott

Pictish Trail + Faith Eliott

Pictish Trail

support = Faith Eliott

Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch, has just completed work on a brand-new album — a sticky, shimmering swirl of sound and slime (both metaphorical and literal). To celebrate, he’s embarking on a series of special solo shows, previewing songs from the forthcoming release. These intimate performances will see Lynch in raw, exploratory mode, armed with an acoustic guitar, a sampler, and a warped imagination — expect tenderness, weirdness, and a generous dollop of goo.

Based on the Isle of Eigg in the Scottish Hebrides, Pictish Trail is known for his wildly inventive electro-acoustic psych-pop. His 2022 album Island Family, his third for London’s Fire Records, drew acclaim from The Observer, The Times, Mojo, Uncut, Loud & Quiet, and BBC 6 Music. It was followed in autumn 2024 by Follow Footsteps — an EP of reworked Island Family tracks released via his own Lost Map Records, in conjunction with Fire. Recasting the euphoric-bucolic psychedelia of ‘Island Family’, ‘Melody Something’ and ‘Nuclear Sunflower Swamp’ through a softer filter — and complemented by a pair of incidental instrumentals — Lynch discovered delicately kaleidoscopic new resonance in the material.

Pictish Trail’s earlier albums Secret Soundz Vols. 1 & 2 (2008/2013) were gloriously eclectic slices of lo-fi folk-pop, later reissued on deluxe double-vinyl by Moshi Moshi in 2014. His third album Future Echoes (2016) received widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY Award), winning the public vote, before being reissued by Fire in 2018. His fourth album, Thumb World, was released by Fire in 2020.

Pictish Trail has toured the world as both headliner and support for the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, and KT Tunstall. He’s performed at major festivals including Glastonbury (Park Stage), Field Day, Camp Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, Blue Dot, the Edinburgh Fringe, and every single edition of Green Man Festival (22 and counting).

Outside his own music, Johnny is a key figure in the UK’s independent music scene. Through Lost Map Records, he has championed a diverse and idiosyncratic roster — helping to elevate artists such as Rozi Plain, Alabaster dePlume, Seamus Fogarty, Bas Jan, Callum Easter, and Free Love.

Faith Eliott is a songwriter and visual artist. Born in Minneapolis, they moved to Scotland nearly two decades ago.

Through storytelling and world-building, they illustrate intuitive landscapes populated by hagfish, Pleistocene volcanoes, cursed memes, and late-Renaissance apocryphal monsters lurking in the aisles of Asda. Sonically, Eliott grounds themself in a stripped-back, lyric-driven songwriting approach that evolves through the recording process to incorporate orchestral elements—often contributed by frequent collaborator Robyn Dawson—along with electronic textures and found sounds.

Their latest album ‘Dryas’ was released on Lost Map Records on May 30th, 2025. It follows two previous releases, ‘Impossible Bodies’ (2019, OK Pal Records) and ‘Insects’ (2016, Song, by Toad Records), both of which received critical acclaim, including coverage from The List and The Scotsman, as well as national radio play on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction, and 6Music.

Some quotes:

"DRYAS IS A GORGEOUS, GENTLE, POIGNANT AND HOPEFUL FOLK POP FANTASIA" - THE SCOTSMAN

"A GORGEOUSLY DETAILED AND DELICATE RECORD" – THE SKINNY

“[ELIOTT] WILL SURELY BE CHAMPIONED FOR YEARS TO COME AS ONE OF THE FINEST LYRICISTS OF THEIR GENERATION”

HALF MOON RISING

Elaine returned from California recently where she worked with producer and engineer Mike Butler whose credits include, Norah Jones, Ray LaMontagne, Phoebe Bridgers and The Pretenders. The outcome of these San Diego Sessions is her latest record HALF MOON RISING, with big country guitars, warm, rich and classic textures, Elaine’s vocals and songcraft shine, something very magical happened with this record. This is the album she was always meant to make!

In the Beginning…. Elaine Palmer hails from an isolated village up on the North Yorkshire Moors in England but spent most of her life travelling back and forward to her family in Phoenix, Arizona. Elaine finely honed her distinctive voice and built a reputation for her emotive mesmerizing stage presence. Elaine has released a handful of records and toured the UK extensively, playing with the likes of KT Tunstall, Patty Griffin, Courtney Marie Andrews and Paolo Nutini. Stanley Brinks and Freschard

Stanley Brinks and Freschard

Freschard and Stanley Brinks (Andre Herman Dune)

Stanley Brinks is renowned for his unique anti-folk style: both playful and suggestive, insightful and entertaining. Brinks was born in Paris, France, in 1973. He studied a bit of biology and worked as a nurse for a while. Half Swedish, half Moroccan, strongly inclined to travel the world, he soon began spending most of his life on the road and developed a strong relationship with New York. By the late 90s he’d become a full time singer-songwriter – André Herman Düne – as part of three piece indie-rock band, Herman Düne. Several albums and Peel sessions later and after a decade of touring Europe, mostly with American songwriters such as Jeffrey Lewis, Calvin Johnson and early Arcade Fire he settled in Berlin. The early carnival music of Trinidad became a passion, and in the early 21st century he became the unquestioned master of European calypso, changing his name to Stanley Brinks. Under this moniker he has recorded more than 100 albums, collaborated with the New York Antifolk scene on several occasions, recorded and toured with traditional Norwegian musicians, and played a lot with The Wave Pictures.

Freschard grew up in a farm in French Burgundy. Aged 18 she moved to Paris, where she baked pies and cakes in a cafe. There, a local musician and regular customer called Stanley Brinks wrote a few songs for her to sing. Homeless in Paris, she saved up just enough money to get herself a ticket to New York. There she found an old electric guitar and started writing her own songs. In 2004 she moved to Berlin, where she recorded her first LP, "Alien Duck". Her second album, "Click Click", recorded in 2006, features electric guitar by Stanley Brinks. On her third album, she plays the drums herself. On her fourth “Shh...” she also plays the flute. For this year’s “Boom Biddy Boom” she also plays the washboard.

Despite their growing reputation and dedicated fan base, the band's momentum eventually slowed, leading its members to pursue separate paths. Lifter proudly takes musical cues from a diverse range of sources, including slowcore, folk, country, and indie rock, and deftly showcase this throughout this latest release. A handful of influences would include The Fairport Convention and Duster. Their earlier material often drew comparisons to the likes of Silver Jews and Sparklehorse, all in all adding to a much scrappier and heavier sound in comparison to this more intricate and pastoral sound they’ve begun to adopt.

Lifter Solo UK tour, following the band’s release of their first album, “Clasping Hands with the Moribund.”
