“My new obsession... harmonies to die for!” - Sian Eleri (BBC Radio 1)

Waiting Room favourite Jodie Nicholson returns this autumn with her lovely band to play us songs from her upcoming second album, and most likely some old favourites too.

Inspired by her dad’s love of prog rock, songs that place you in the moment and artists who change sonically with each album, Nicholson’s offering combines mellow indie, gentle folk-pop and submersive electro soundscapes, with her sincere, reed-like vocals remaining a compelling constant.

Awardee of PRS Foundation’s ‘Women Make Music’, Help Musicians’ ‘Do it Differently’ and Sentric’s Academy Fund, her career excelled throughout the pandemic with releases produced remotely by Tim Bran (London Grammar, Aurora, Birdy).

Nicholson’s signature rich harmonies, explorative textures and pensive lyrics have earned her a deserved place on BBC Radio 6 Music playlist, Best of BBC Introducing on Radio 1 and Amazing Radio’s A-List, alongside airplay across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Introducing.

Nicholson has graced Wilderness main stage, All Points East, The Alt Escape, Y Not, Liverpool Sound City, Cambridge Folk Festival, Live at Leeds, Y Not, Long Division and Twisterella, and supported Emeli Sandé, Tom Rosenthal, Bernard Butler, The Howl & The Hum, Nathan Ball, The Futureheads and Benedict Cork at sold-out shows.

In 2021, Sage Gateshead x Northern Music Trust commissioned the soloist to form a band and headline Sage 2 for their debut show. Since then, the four-piece became the first performers at Sunderland’s new venue, The Fire Station, played Nicholson’s first UK headline tour in 2022 as part of Independent Venue Week.
